Indonesia – Aceh:
Following the
Tsunami HSI have followed up their disaster response with
fundraising for the rebuilding of the Veterinary School’s teaching
farm. HSI have been integral to this project from design to
building, and curriculum development for humane education and
farming systems that are not harmful to animals or the environment.
The School will be a legacy of our work in Aceh.
Indonesia – Bali and Java:
A humane
Slaughter Programme called ‘Animal Welfare Training (AWT) has been
on-going since 2002 using experts from Bristol University UK to
train indigenous trainers who can work directly with the abattoir to
improve welfare for each individual animal. Please click on

West Malaysia:
HSI partnered
with the RSPCA International to hold a Dog Catching Workshop for
municipalities and NGO’s in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Dog catching
with nets was demonstrated and nets donated to enable humane
catching of dogs. The Coalition Against dog-Shooting and other
Inhumane Methods (CASIM) has since been formed to promote humane dog
management and provide practical solutions.

India:
HSI have
responded to Disasters on East and West sides of the country, for
both cyclones and severe flooding.
Pakistan:
Responded to
the Earthquake that devastated families including their animals.
The onset of winter made the response a race against time to design
and build shelters for animals that would keep them warm at 5000feet
and above, preventing masses of animals dying that would also slow
down the economic recovery of the area. HSI Partnered with Brooke
Hospital for Animals to achieve an outstanding 3,800 animals
undercover in Balakot before the snow started. Please click here

3 months to deal with the immediate threat of a rabies epidemic
through the dog population, the HSI response prevented mass-killing
of dogs all around the coastline. The programme is today on-going
through the Tsunami Animal-People Alliance (TAPA), please see
