Bad Weather Hinders Earthquake Rescue Efforts

Saturday, 15 October

Islamabad, Pakistan

The death toll from the 8 October 7.6 magnitude South Asian earthquake continues to rises.  The estimated deaths in Pakistan alone are at 38,000 and official reports from India are at 1,300 but are expected to rise.

Despite bad weather, relief operations were working at a fever pitch, with helicopters and other equipment trying to rush supplies to the hardest-hit areas.

Pakistan said it will set up a tent village for the thousands left homeless by the quake.
