Report on Animal Situation
in Phuket
Jan 1, 2004
Excerpted from a letter from
Edwin Wiek
Director - Wildlife Friends of Thailand
Television reported
many pet and livestock animals left behind in Phuket and other remote
islands without food. Animal owners either have to desert their pet or
are now unemployed, and people who used to feed the strayed are no longer
able to do so. Food supply and donation available are, unfortunately,
only for human. Pets and strays are in more serious situation than
livestock, because the effected sites are not agricultural areas.
