Sherry's Diary

Sherry in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia,
among the ruble
and devastation left by the
Tsunami
Sherry Grant is the regional director for HSI Asia. When the great
Tsunami of December 2004 struck, she was the person on the ground and
immediately began coordinating HSI efforts to bring aid to the stricken animals in the region.
Since then she has been in the field almost constantly bring aid to
distressed animals in devastated areas. - most recently in the cyclone
ravished areas of eastern India.
When
time permits she tries to write a diary of her activities which she sends to
us as best she can. They include
descriptions of the mundane work, terrifying encounters, descriptions of
horrible death and destruction, and tearful moments of reflection.
Take a moment and
follow her journeys:

It had been a particularly hard
day surveying the damage and death in
Banda Aceh. In the photo
above, Dr. Listriani and Sherry console
each other. In Sherry's
hand, she holds the diary of a
dead newly wedded couple she
found among the ruins.
